Information For Parents

We understand it is important that both you and your child feel comfortable with your child’s place of work.  At Domino's Pizza, the welfare and wellbeing of our staff is our top priority. The following answers some of the most common questions parents have about their child working for Domino’s Pizza.

How old does my child have to be to apply for a Domino’s job?

There is no general minimum age for employment, but there are some important rules about the employment of young people. These rules apply to the following aspects of employment:

  • Times a young person can work.
  • Types of work a young person can perform.
  • Operating machinery.

For employees under the age of sixteen there is no minimum wage amounts so payments may vary between individual stores / franchisees, but all other employment rights and entitlements still apply.

What is the minimum shift length?

Regardless of whether your child is an In-Store worker or a Driver, the minimum shift length is 3 hours.

Does my child need their own car to be a Domino’s Driver?

Yes, but scooters are available for those with the appropriate motorcycle licence. We also have a fleet of Domino's cars, but there is no guarantee these will be available.

What if my child receives a speeding or parking fine?

The only speeding we do is in the store. We require our team to always follow the road rules. If they do receive an infringement notice, they will be responsible for paying any related fines.

This is my child’s first job. Will they find it intimidating?

Not at all. Domino's places emphasis on having fun at work. They will be in the perfect environment to make friends and develop important life skills.

Is there anyone my child can talk to if they’re unhappy with anything?

Yes. All Domino's Franchise Consultants and Domino’s Corporate Regional Leaders are happy to help with any problems that may arise at work.

You can also contact the Domino’s NZ Head Office on 09 632 1080.

Where could this job lead?

As far as your child wants to go! Most Domino's franchisees started as a Driver or an In-Store. Now they are overseeing their own million-dollar businesses. Even our CEO started as a delivery driver.

What if my child wants to change from a Domino’s Driver to an In-Store?

There is a great deal of crossover between Driver and In-Store roles. However, they can also speak to their Domino's Manager about what In-Store openings are available.

How would my child go about becoming a Domino’s Manager?

If they are dedicated and ambitious in their work, they can approach a Domino's Manager to discuss future opportunities. We also offer specific manager-level training courses to help them achieve this goal.

Do you have a policy on substance abuse?

Absolutely. Domino's has a zero tolerance approach to substance use, including alcohol, drugs and tobacco. Anyone found abusing this policy will be instantly dismissed.

Can the family get staff discounts?

Discounts differ between franchise owners, please check with the manager of your child's workplace to see what their policy is.
